Basement Tiling

We began tiling the basement today. All on track, timeline-wise (we did the underfloor heating last week) and Paul, the electrician and Sam, the plumber, were both on site to do their respective bits 'n pieces.

Graham and Bevan are doing the tiling - both of them experts so that means I'm the lackey! :) But, as ever, I'm also running around doing all sorts of different stuff. And Manuel, Lisa's Dad, is also on-hand to help mix tile glue and keep the place tidy.

The chalet itself will arrive from Lithuania on the 5th August, when the real activity kicks off. We want to have the basement finished by then. 18 days and counting..!

Bevan and the first tiles! Four different shapes = brain freeze...

All systems go!

In the beginning...

Clean site after Mr Roubert had done the basement in summer 2010
Well, it's finally happening... Almost three years to the day since we first started dreaming about having a home of our own, the building process is well and truly underway. Chalet Roberts is on track to be completed by the end of November 2011 and we'll be blogging our progress over the next few months.

I don't profess that this is going to be a literary work of genius (!) but I'll try to make it as informative as possible. And I'll back track a bit so you can get a feel for how our new chalet in Chamonix Mont Blanc came about. And if can figure out how to rig up a webcam to show the building site, you may be even to be able to watch the proceedings 'live'. Talk about watching paint dry... :)

Cheers.
